Description:
This course explores the critical issue of healthcare services for the population with limited English proficiency (LEP). An O&P practice likely services patients who have limited English proficiency. As of 2021, 8% of the U.S. population, or 25.7 million people do not speak English as their preferred language or have a limited ability to read, write, speak or understand English. For services to be effective, understanding device use and care is essential. The regulatory landscape in support of this population, spans decades from 1964 Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, 1973 Americans with Disabilities Act and 2010 Affordable Care Act section 1557 with 2024 updated protections. Join us to learn about the regulatory requirements and how to improve access to care for the LEP population....
