A change in FAA certification policy announced in October, 2019 now allows consideration for special issuance for Class 1, 2, and 3 medical certification with a diagnosis of insulin treated diabetes.   The requirements include two options, one with use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) and without CGM.  The non-CGM option applies to Third Class applicants only, while CGM is required for Class 1 and 2 applicants.
